| 1417917 | 2016-03-22 01:01:00 | About to get a 2TB drive, but wondering whether I go for the WD or Seagate. These are my two options: Western Digital Blue WD20EZRZ 2TB SATA3 6Gb/s 64MB Cache Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache Are Seagate's reliable these days? I remember having an issue a few years back with a Seagate and have stuck with WD since, but I can get the Seagate slightly cheaper, and it's 7200RPM compared to WD's 5400RPM. Any advice appreciated, and yes, I'll eventually get myself an SSD as a boot drive when I build my next system. |

Anyway, it's odd, coz I too have got a small bias in favour of WD, altho I can't say anything to justify this. However, most of my backup drives are Seagates, as more often than not they have had the price or capacity advantage at the time of purchase. I've not had drive failures since well back in the days of IDE interfaces. The more common issue (for me) these days is with the USB interface or USB bus when using external drives. |
