2016-03-14 04:13:00 | I've got a few . abw documents in Puppy that I need converted to . odt for Open Office . Any way to do this without a lot of fuss? I have an old Win XP-P dual-booted with Puppy/Slacko, and I can't get . abw's to print on the XP side, and I tried putting the . abw's in a stick and physically tried to re-read them on XP side - it didn't work . AND . . . . I REALLY really want to get rid of the default processor in Puppy: Abiword, and get Open Office in this distro . I'm sure I downloaded it, but I'll be damned if I can find it again . And even if I do find it, then how do I get it to install? Puppy is not housebroken yet . I'm working on it, but it's a vertical curve to learn . I see it's 64F in ChCh - warmer than we are here at the mo . Of course, it's 22:10:17 right now - and we just had our semi-annual time change . Yuck . nonsense . AND ---- what does 'sfs" mean?

2016-03-14 04:25:00 | In Abiword you need a plugin called Open Document Filter, it will allow you to save files in Abiword for Open/Libre Office. I suggest using LibreOffice over OpenOffice for licensing reasons but its really a personal preference. Cheers, KK

2016-03-14 04:53:00 | OK - I'm trying to instal Libre, and I get a popup that says that I have Open Office already installed (and I say: "Where - I'd like to use it!") ........... ................but that I have to uninstall it in PPM something-or-other in my Bootloader - wherever and whatever that is first. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! Any of youse guys visiting the USA this winter? I'll be having Summer here when youse guys are freezing. Free room and board as long as you give me one-on-one Puppy classes.

2016-03-14 06:20:00 | Further Googling says to get PUPBEGONE at www.murga-linux.com , but I can't find it anywhere. And how do I instal it after I get it anyway? IF I could find it? Puppy ain't fun no more. Now I get told I need wrappers and that most parts aren't found so they are ignored. And that I need to install Chrome Pet22 for Slack first to make this work, but only after I download all the dependencies that I don't have. And that I have "inherited keybindings that are only available in Seamonkey. What am I in to here?

2016-03-14 07:25:00 | Puppy is fairly a basic distro. What's the horsepower of your pc. You may be able to run one of the earlier mint versions or lubuntu.

2016-03-14 08:01:00 | Quad core, lots of Ram - I think full slots w/4G per, 4 500G hdds, I forget the processor speed, threading allowed, JBOD, but it's a fairly good unit . Not a gamer machine - I like to run vids and lots of music . I also have a DA/AD and virtual mixers etc for home recording in 32 track . This all worked until M$ obsoleted all my sound cards with Win 8 . 1 and then W10 . I've lost access to my virtual machines and recording studio . That's where I am right now . I can't afford to re-buy $1000USD newer versions just to feed Gates and his hot-n-cold running secretaries on the 11th floor . I can't even print out music scores, nor can I copy/paste anything . It's driving me nuts . I think the machine should run Puppy fair enough . I like Puppy, it's just this line-entry/code stuff that I cannot understand, and all the acronyms . The acronyms are the worst . I need a 3,000+ page glossary just to try to understand what they represent, then someone to tell me how they work together . Or don't .

2016-03-14 08:08:00 | The plugin is for AbiWord so that you can export to an Open Document format. www.abisource.com What were your reasons for choosing Slacko? You would find Ubuntu based distributions a lot more friendlier. Maybe Puppy based on Ubuntu or LXLE would hopefully give you a better experience for old computers. Although if you do continue on your path, you could learn a lot more of the work you would need to do to get things working. Cheers, KK
