1412498 2015-12-08 20:14:00 How do you back up your Tablet?

If I backup to a google/samsung account as I understand it, that doesn't backup everything.

I backup my tablet photos by just connecting the Tablet to my laptop and copying.

So how do you backup the rest?

Thanks in advance.

PS What does backing up to a google/samsung account back up anyway?

SAMSUNG Tab4 and a Samsung Tab3

1412500 2015-12-08 20:33:00 Its the recovery from backup that matters, thats when you find out if it all works . Plenty of backups 'work', but cant be recovered from.
That should be tested before hand, but thats not something I'd be keen to try. :)

I have b8gger all on my ph, but I have used google to transfer to a new ph , worked once , on latest ph it didnt

Samsung Kies does backups, but I havnt used it.
You can also backup/recover contacts to your SDCard (or sim ?), that I have done successfully.

Just what are you expecting to be able to recover from a backup?

1412501 2015-12-08 22:21:00 There should be no need to backup an Android tablet - or phone.

If your apps have been downloaded from Google Play, then this is saved against your Gmail profile (just like your saved wi-fi passwords). Any new device you log into with the same Gmail account will trigger the download of those apps.

Photos should be backed up to the Cloud (Google Photos or Dropbox or similar) as you go (via wifi, unless you have deep pockets).

Secondary email addresses just need to be logged into again...

If you store your contacts on your SIM, you deserve what you get (!! :) ) - store your Contacts ONLY in Gmail, then they can be accessed from anywhere and maintained in just one place.

Game progress, as far as I know, cannot be backed up - certainly I've never bothered.

1412502 2015-12-09 00:16:00 +1 to Johcar except to say the apps only backup if it's enabled in the settings, it is not necessarily on by default.

Never store a single copy of anything important on a phone or tablet and backing up is not important, everything other than files can be recovered easily enough.

I have the backup my data and automatic restore settings ticked, when I do a factory reset and re enter my account details it spends the next little while reinstalling all my apps until you can barely tell the difference. The exception is a couple of apps that need to be reconfigured afterwards like pocket password manager (which has it's own backup options) and the battlenet authenticator (if you have one of these you need a code from it to set it up again or it will not work).

Gosh - I must have applied that setting ("Backup Account" and "Backup my data") without even realising - does that mean I am clever by default??? :D :D :D

1412504 2015-12-09 08:26:00 The Tablet is faulty and is going into to be fixed under warrantee --- we were told by the samsung service centre to backup the device.

I have since got Kies so will use that. Thanks.

1412505 2015-12-09 08:46:00 Kies - another example of unnecessary software supplied by Samsung... :) johcar (6283)

1412507 2015-12-11 02:00:00 I only back up my photos which are taken using the device. All the other media I spread out to my mobile devices is already backed up on my main computer, and the apps come in as fresh copies off google play as or if required.

To get data off my tablet I just shove it off to dropbox and grab it again when I'm at my desktop.
