| 1412229 | 2015-12-02 19:12:00 | Helping a friend find a new desktop tower system. Looking for other NZ sites like Ascent where you can select the options you want & then see what is available. |

| 1412230 | 2015-12-02 19:29:00 | Computerlounge (www.computerlounge.co.nz/) or Playtech (http:) would be my picks. CL also has a forum for build help :) |

| 1412231 | 2015-12-02 20:14:00 | Thanks. My friend can buy one through a family business but it would probably need to be a branded system. He had asked me to build one for him, but I would rather he bought his own. Then I wouldn't be responsible for everything he does to it. |

It may sound harsh, but dont get involved in builds or purchases, except for offering advice. Otherwise, you will be the guy stuck in the middle whenever anything goes wrong, warranty disputes, not happy with the way it runs etc etc You'll be the default IT guy , expected to just 'quickly' fix 'minor' issues (that you'll spend most of Sat Afternoon on) :badpc: |

| 1412234 | 2015-12-02 22:34:00 | +1 for computerlounge. PB tech will also build to your specifications, and at my local one at least do it for free. There is something to be said for using a shop that has a local branch, makes life a lot easier in the unfortunate case of you having problems with the new machine. I have built PC's for my friends a few times, particularly one who upgrades his gaming PC every now and again. Last time he asked I just helped him chose all the parts and got him to buy it from PBtech, easier for me and gives him somewhere else to go for support :) |

| 1412236 | 2015-12-03 05:08:00 | Thanks for the help team. Looks like it's going to be a custom system now. So I've sorted one that will suit my friends needs from Computer lounge. But he will have to do the ordering & buying part. Hopefully then, I won't be directly in the firing line if something goes wrong. |

No. They think all the other gadgets they bought elsewhere and connected to it are your problem. No. They think ignoring your anti-malware installs and getting infected are your fault. No. I always made that clear on my warranties, and explained it to them when they didn't read it. Of course some people would still get enraged.... |

| 1412238 | 2015-12-03 21:55:00 | They think .... they think that you can just 'fix' software bugs , then give a look from hell when you try to explain its a software bug & cant be 'just fixed' they think serious issues are just a 10minute fix they want something fixed, but are too busy to let you on the PC they buy consumer level gear & expect it to work on a corporate network they buy consumer level gear & wont accept that it is not intended to be repairable, its a throw-away item (eg printers) they buy consumer level gear/software & are surprised that the advertised claims of what it can do are alot of BS they get you out for what should be an easy job, but windows is so trashed its barely usuable & needs a reinstall . |
