| 1411872 | 2015-11-25 03:21:00 | Got the attached email this arvo. Very authentic looking until you mouse over the links, all of which point somewhere quite different from Trademe. And of course there is no Trademe logo. Being the public spirited citizen that I am I thought I'd report this to Trademe even though I'm sure they are well aware of it. I may be not looking hard enough (wouldn't be the first time), but I could find nowhere on the site where I could report this, and of course no phone numbers or email addresses. They clearly don't want actual communication from their customers. 6837 |

Never hurts to remind people to be careful of this stuff though. Also even if you think it's real, never click any links in the e-mail - always go to the site yourself to check whatever needs updating. Unfortunately some sites do require you to click an e-mail link to verify things, but generally you know that's coming or have initiated it from their website yourself. |

| 1411874 | 2015-11-25 03:36:00 | Although the email looks authentic I've just noticed the small print at the bottom has Irish VAT and company numbers and if you look up the company number in the Irish copmanies office website it appears to have nothing to do with Trademe or Fairfax. | Tony (4941) | ||
| 1411875 | 2015-11-25 04:00:00 | Whoops! Stuffed the subject line again! I just checked the VAT and Company numbers on the email and they actually point to two quite separate companies in Ireland - neither of which is Trademe. |

| 1411876 | 2015-11-25 04:05:00 | It looks somewhat professional, and quite similar to any generic 'password updated' email - but not authentic compared to any normal TradeMe emails at all. No TradeMe logos, they don't mention your username or real name, information at the bottom as you pointed out is wrong, not to mention the links, even the displayed URLs don't match anything I've ever seen from TradeMe. Sure they have a phone number: 0900 87233 if you want to pay $0.99 a minute (and I bet they'd put you on hold for half an hour too) :( You could try through their contact us form. They have no contact option for 'phishing scams' but you could do it through "Reporting message board behaviour" which is the closest thing I can think of. www.trademe.co.nz In any case, if they're going to be difficult in letting people contact them, you might as well report it through the wrong form just to annoy them. :annoyed: |

The blacked out bit in the image is my email address which they used as the username. |

| 1411878 | 2015-11-25 09:11:00 | True but if the scammers have sent you an email they know your address already. Any decent company will always use your registered name, which the scammers are unlikely to know. They just dump phishing emails left, right and centre, and hope you're going to be an idiot. |

| 1411881 | 2015-11-26 20:35:00 | I tried to contact an NZ company to tell them their website was hacked, and was now infecting THEIR customers PC's (confirmed on a workshop PC) They didnt seem to care, didnt take my contact details or bother to get any info off me when I rang them. I would have thought that would be rather important. :badpc: |
