We have also had some mass shootings over the years. If you want to look at the whole thing realistically on a population basis we are not a lot different here than they are in the USA as far as the number of homicidal idiots is concerned. So true Clive. A policeman told me a number of years ago I would be shocked if I knew how many accidents were in fact suicide. This followed a well known identity hitting a bridge abutment. As it turned out his alcohol reading was way over the limit, a point seized upon by the media and gleefully added to the drink/drive statistics by some of the "Temperance Lobby". However, the reality of the matter was that he had drank a bottle of whisky, left a suicide note and slammed his vehicle into a bridge abutment. It would seem that this is not as uncommon as one may think, but the preferred method nowadays seems to be choosing a truck or train instead of a bridge abutment. All in all a very sad state of affairs. :groan: |
