1417266 2016-03-11 21:26:00 Great to see you back SJ. I think we all really feared the worst for you as I remember you were having some health problems earlier. We have missed your expertise on things mechanical, but luckily fridges treadmills and new tyres haven't featured for a while. Welcome to your old stamping ground. Richard (739)
1417267 2016-03-11 21:32:00 I can see by your avatar don't look, there's nothing here . that you haven't aged a day . Nice to see you too .

You need some more sunshine though as your Spongebob underwear keeps the tan from happening in places where the sun normally doesn't shine .

Now, about those tires (nz= tyres) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

1417269 2016-03-12 00:08:00 As it happens I have been trying Puppy/Slacko 32bit and found it to be very good except that the Packet Manager kept on failing to install software, including Wine (Windows Simulator).
Previously I had used Puppy 6 2015/Ubuntu which had no problems and a very good selection of software. Wine worked as well and ran several MS programs.

1417270 2016-03-12 00:24:00 Welcome back Joe, nice to see you back on deck.

Like you, I am trying Linux, using a bootable USB drive on a Netbook. so far I have tried Mint, Lubuntu and Puppy. Mint is my choice but I don't want to install it at present, which means I can't Save email programs and passwords etc.

Puppy would be ideal as I can Save, but I am having trouble connecting for WiFi. Being an Old Codger I struggle at times, but am finding Linux very interesting. I will follow your progress with interest.

1417271 2016-03-12 00:34:00 Let's form a club . . . . all I get on Linux/Puppy forums is being ignored or insulted .

Yeah - I noticed that the Packet Mgr fouls up . I tried to get a file handler and it was going along swell, then it told me that I had to do some-thing-or-other with a line of code that was indecipherable .

I heard that Mint had a hack problem and it was suggested to wait a while - like a few weeks until it was cleared up . It may be OK by now, but there was a cut-off date and any distro downloads after that date were suspect .

In Puppy, I can see the Windoze files and actually pull them up and use them as I see fit - not knowing for sure if I do or don't have WINE installed . It just seems to work, although I haven't tried to actually RUN a Windoze program .

I hear - mind you, just HEAR that Linux/Zorin is the cat's meow if you're coming out of a Windoze environment for the first time . I have a few dnlds of it on USBs, 32 & 64bit versions and they won't actually instal in anything I own - so I dunnow at the mo . I'll wait a few days and try again .
