1417901	2016-03-21 22:55:00	Hi all. I have just bought and built a new gaming pc. Specs are: i5-6600k Asus GTX 980 Asus Sabertooth Z170 Mark 1 16GB DDR4 Windows 10 64bit When I start Witcher 3 the video and mouse lags. When my mouse click finally registers (takes about 8 - 10 seconds), and I manage to start a new game, everything continues to lag terribly. I have already trawled the net for answers, but none have worked. I have turned down all game settings. I have installed latest nvidia driver, and oldest driver I could find on nvidia site. I reinstalled both drivers again, in case of install error. I tried to force W3 to use my GTX 980 in the Nvidia 3D settings, but the option was not there. I have disabled my onboard gpu in case that was being used instead. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.	cagesen (16448)
1417902	2016-03-22 00:17:00	Have you manually run all the windows updates ? When you install Windows 10 it will automatically download updates, during this time Everything goes to a crawl, as the updates use up a lot of resources. Once you manually run them, and everything is through the computer usually then starts to run as it should. Its not uncommon, depending on your internet speed,and what's being downloaded for it to take a couple of hours. Most of the Windows 10 DVD's you purchase are still the early release 10240. So by default it will download and install 10586. to check, click on the search next to the start, type in Winver the latest build is 10586.164 Failing that open Task Manager and see whats hogging the usage.	wainuitech (129)
1417903	2016-03-22 00:17:00	The monitor is plugged into the Video card and not onboard yes? I've seen that before. What resolution are you playing at? the hardware should be more than capable. Also If the Nvidia experience app turned on the setting that runs at a higher resolution and downsamples (I forget the name) turn that off and just run at your monitors native resolution. Any supposed gains in quality are not worth the performance hit (also for me it totally screwed up my mouse sensitivity). I have similar hardware and have never had anything not run smoothly. Have not played that particular game though. My most recent was rise of the tomb raider. I play at 1080P.	dugimodo (138)

I also made a point of checking task manager and closing down things like steam, chrome, and a few other things before running it. When I get home from work I'll check which version I have. So did you actually check ?-- there's no indication that updates are running apart from they turn a computer into a slow mess, items not opening especially when doing the upgrade from 10240 to 10586. I'm just about to do a install, but I'll be using a USB I made that already has 10586, even then there will be a truck load of updates. Sometimes they wont auto run if you are doing something, so you have to manually run them.	wainuitech (129)
1417907	2016-03-22 02:28:00	So did you actually check ?-- there's no indication that updates are running apart from they turn a computer into a slow mess, items not opening especially when doing the upgrade from 10240 to 10586. I didn't see any update window or pop-up, so just assumed. Windows 10 had been running for about 12 hours before I even started installing W3 so I thought that would be long enough to wait for the updates. I will double check tonight that no updates are running in background.	cagesen (16448)

I also ran Shogun 2, Portal 2, Tropico 4 & Saints Row 4, all on higest possible settings, and they ran fine. I did a BIOS update last night, and then ran W3. Still lagged. I have actually noticed that everyday actions, like opening and closing windows, seems a bit sluggish. I'll give that CPUZ a go when I get home. I'm starting to think that it might be something simple that I've missed. This is only my second build, and it's entirely possible that I have messed up. It could be that I've forgotten to plug something in, not plugged it in correctly, or haven't installed or updated the correct software. :groan:	cagesen (16448)

I don't really understand all the numbers, so maybe someone can tell if anything's wrong: CPU Core Speed 3910 Bus Speed 100 Memory NB Frequency 3911 DRAM Frquency 1069 I've been playing Fallout 4 on ultra settings and it has been running fine.	cagesen (16448)
