578342 2007-08-08 10:25:00 I have Zone Alarm Security Suite and AVG installed on my computer. The thing is that Zone Alarms Antivirus scans better than the AVG scanner. I downloaded a crack for a program once and Zone Alarm Antivirus picked up a Trojan while AVG didnt. manvsmachine (11826)
578343 2007-08-08 10:30:00 yep, and i bet that NOD32 (http://www.eset.com/) will find some that ZoneAlarm doesn't get.
AVG is not a very good anti virus product - but i guess you can't complain cos its free :waughh:
Yea, zonealarm is better than avg, and you don't need them both running so you may aswell uninstall avg

578344 2007-08-08 11:17:00 cracks are not necessarily trojen. it probably uses similar code or uses a known exploit. the AV picks up that its using an exploit or reconises a trojen writers handywork. tweak'e (69)
578345 2007-08-09 03:43:00 NOD32 would be good if it was free. manvsmachine (11826)

578350 2007-08-09 22:19:00 I have Zone Alarm Security Suite and AVG installed on my computer. The thing is that Zone Alarms Antivirus scans better than the AVG scanner. I downloaded a crack for a program once and Zone Alarm Antivirus picked up a Trojan while AVG didnt.

As stated a crack can be seen as an exploit or contain similar code to a exploit.

As an example, we use Symantec AV at work (which bites don't get me started) will detect several of my legit port and IP scanners as a possible exploits where AVG at home will not. I actually use these tools for legit networking reasons, other AV's also ignore them.

Yes they "could" be used maliciously, but so can a car or a tire iron so um yea!

As for Zone Alarm, it interferes with file sharing as it port forwards like poop and interferes with some online games, high system overhead, very crappy firewall imo, but I suppose if you are happy with it....

AVG is very good, so is Nod32. AVG is 100% free so we have a winner.

578351 2007-08-10 09:09:00 Not vey many people think Zone Alarm is crap. Its suppose to scan incoming but it doesnt slow things down that much its just a matter of keeping unwanted things out of the computer. But i reckon Norton slows the computer down. Its only good for powerfull computer and Networks manvsmachine (11826)
