| 578207 | 2007-08-08 09:59:00 | Just had a request from a offer I put in Demonhunters AV debate regarding the advanced setting to make Nod32 work 100%- As warned it is long  Here Goes - Open the Control Center, normally in the task bar by the clock. Select the following sections then click on Setup in the window that open on the right hand side.and make active as listed. AMON – Setup/Option Tab – Tick in “Potentially Unsafe Applications” Click OK DMON – Setup/Setup Tab - Tick in “Potentially Unsafe Applications” Click OK EMON – Setup/ Detection ( left hand side first down after scanner) Tick in “Potentially Unsafe Applications” Click OK IMON- Leave OK as is While in Control Center –Double click “NOD32 System Tools / Scheduler/Planner, Set update and scan settings In the Scheduled Tasks Window - Right click on the “Regular Automatic Update” Left Click “Edit” – follow the prompts till you get to the place you can tick “ Run Task as Soon as Possible” - select that – follow the rest of the prompts. Next Click ADD Button – In Select Task window, use drop down box to select “Update – Nod32 Update”, follow through selecting the options as you want, if on high speed internet select the “Event Triggered” should be selected, then “every Time Computer Starts” & “Run Task as Soon as Possible” carry on till end of prompts. Next Click ADD Button –In Select Task Window, use drop down box to select “ Nod32 On Demand Scanner – Scanning, enter a Name ( I use System Scan) then select your choice to suit, you have “Once, Repeatedly, Daily, Weekly, Event Triggered” Depending on how paranoid you are, I normally set to Weekly, then select the time and day on the calendar provided, follow the prompts through. Click the Hide Button on Control Center. Open The scanner either from a desktop Icon you made or from the Programs Menu, Start/All Programs/ Eset / Nod32 ( Vista is Start orb / Programs/ Eset folder/Nod32) Once open and it finishes scanning the Memory, select the “Setup” Tab, In the Scan (left hand side) tick every thing, Threat Sense Scanning Options ( right side) tick every thing. Click on the “Actions “ Tab, select What you want it to do if an alert is found ( your choice) Then click “Quit” A warning will come up saying you made changes to the profile, click Yes to save. For the System Administrators, or if you are at home and want to know if the kids get bugs - in the Control Center / Nod32 System Setup (down bottom) Setup (right window) “Notifications” Tab you can enter your SMTP setting to send you an automatic email if the person gets a virus detected OR any thing else that triggers the scan / detection engine. = End= OK I cheated, I wrote it out in Word   |

| 578215 | 2007-08-08 20:33:00 | Just had a request from a offer I put in Demonhunters AV debate regarding the advanced setting to make Nod32 work 100%- Threat Sense Scanning Options ( right side) tick every thing. What do you mean Work 100%? I have NOD32 and don't use all its features, like Outlook scanning or MS Doc scanning. Nor do I have Threatsense active. I find it perfectly fine. |

| 578216 | 2007-08-08 21:41:00 | Had to call the post something, and being a technician yourself (pctek -looked at your profile) you will know that while most programs come with default settings, that work fine, but you can usually turn on more features that make it work better. Thats unless you are microsoft and turn off by default the outbound traffic scanner in Defender - Vista - I read that Microsoft quoted " it would be to confusing to some people" Mind you the new ZA now works in Vista ( old news I suspect) Thanks for that link rob99, graphical instructions are always easier to follow, and as demonhunter said "someone has got way to much time on their hands". One thing most people agree on is that Nod32 is a damn good AV, and Nortons is a system Hog. About the only thing I don't like sometimes with nod is if I forget to turn off AMON, espically if I have to run the password recovery programs to get customers dial up or email passwords if they forget, the AMON thinks the password recovery tool is a virus and stops it:groan: But thats also a good demo to show what happens when Nod32 finds a threat. Any way - keep up the good suggestions / answers every one. |
