577666 2007-08-09 09:15:00 ok, first time then. Mind you Kaspersky is along side NOD32 as the best AV products out there. Bozo (8540)

577668 2007-09-18 06:29:00 Hey everyone.
Just thought that i would open up a new thread with the purpose of getting everyone to post their view on current anti-virus/spyware/malware etc programs out there today. And discuss any issues and pros/cons of the products they use.
Personally I would recommend NOD32 for Anti-virus and a stand alone Firewall
IPcop which is a Linux based freeware firewall.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's views:cool:

In my opinion and experience, Kaspersky is NO.1! www.pcworld.com
The data from testing is all evidence to prove!

577669 2007-09-18 09:36:00 funny to see how nod 32 fails in the October pc authority av tests.... panther2 (11440)

Kaspersky may be good, but hell I 've had a few hard times trying to uninstall it when the customer didn't want it any more - talk about put up a fight to uninstall - worse than try to get blood out of a stone:D

The other side of that - Kaspersky said several PC's were clean - Nod32 found bugs. Real world workings - better than lab tests.

 Almost as bad as Nortons. I had a PC the other day where even the removal tool didn't do the job properly, the office virus scan plugin failed, couldn't open any office programs, lol. Getting rid of that was a friggin mish!!! Ended up totally reinstalling nortons, then uninstalling again normally, but the problem remained, so reinstalled, disabled the virus scan plugin and uninstalled, same problem!!! Tried the removal tool several times, it just wouldn't go away. Finally it worked by using the removal tool while nortons was still fully installed. BLOODY SYMANTEC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

577673 2007-09-18 22:55:00 Nod32
Ad-Aware
Spybot - SaferNetwork servers never give any problems
SpywareBlaster
Comodo FW

Never had a problem yet. Oh, and I also have the A2 range of anti-spyware but not active - just to check occasionaly.

577674 2007-09-18 23:18:00 Avast is really good, the free version is fantastic. Enigmur (10547)
577675 2007-09-19 01:23:00 Avast (free) does all I want from an installed product . Starts shrieking at certain websites trying anything dubious, scans like any other .

Occasional sweeps by the free kaspersky website scan as a check . Never found anything and I don't think it will fix problems, but if there was a find it would be easy enough to get another tool to delete the malware .

I also use the A2 ( . emsisoft . com/en/software/free/" target="_blank">www . emsisoft . com) stuff as another occasional check, the symantic freebie rootkit thing, and spybot .
