2007-09-18 06:29:00 | Hey everyone. Just thought that i would open up a new thread with the purpose of getting everyone to post their view on current anti-virus/spyware/malware etc programs out there today. And discuss any issues and pros/cons of the products they use. Personally I would recommend NOD32 for Anti-virus and a stand alone Firewall IPcop which is a Linux based freeware firewall. Looking forward to hearing everyone's views:cool: In my opinion and experience, Kaspersky is NO.1! www.pcworld.com The data from testing is all evidence to prove!

2007-09-18 09:45:00 | Last I remember, Kaspersky is the best. Kaspersky may be good, but hell I 've had a few hard times trying to uninstall it when the customer didn't want it any more - talk about put up a fight to uninstall - worse than try to get blood out of a stone:D The other side of that - Kaspersky said several PC's were clean - Nod32 found bugs. Real world workings - better than lab tests.

2007-09-18 20:54:00 | Kaspersky may be good, but hell I 've had a few hard times trying to uninstall it when the customer didn't want it any more - talk about put up a fight to uninstall - worse than try to get blood out of a stone:D  Almost as bad as Nortons. I had a PC the other day where even the removal tool didn't do the job properly, the office virus scan plugin failed, couldn't open any office programs, lol. Getting rid of that was a friggin mish!!! Ended up totally reinstalling nortons, then uninstalling again normally, but the problem remained, so reinstalled, disabled the virus scan plugin and uninstalled, same problem!!! Tried the removal tool several times, it just wouldn't go away. Finally it worked by using the removal tool while nortons was still fully installed. BLOODY SYMANTEC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

2007-09-18 23:18:00 | Avast is really good, the free version is fantastic. | Enigmur (10547) | |
2007-09-19 01:23:00 | Avast (free) does all I want from an installed product . Starts shrieking at certain websites trying anything dubious, scans like any other . Occasional sweeps by the free kaspersky website scan as a check . Never found anything and I don't think it will fix problems, but if there was a find it would be easy enough to get another tool to delete the malware . I also use the A2 ( . emsisoft . com/en/software/free/" target="_blank">www . emsisoft . com) stuff as another occasional check, the symantic freebie rootkit thing, and spybot .
