577656 2007-08-08 02:26:00 Actually you wouldn't believe the amount of times I have been extremely grateful that I am running Linux after some of the flea-ridden, pox-infected, festering websites I've had to visit as part of my Mod duties in following suspect links or other dodgy business that some of the fly-by night (banned by morning :p) members get up to. :rolleyes:Ah, c'mon... surely you don't mean those dainty, muffle, sweet panty, delicate, innocent, lovely eye'd, gorgeous people trying to sell so much goodness to mankind?

:D

577657 2007-08-08 05:56:00 The default settings work OK, but there are a few that you can tick and the software works a LOT better. If anyone wants instructions on the settings, just yell and I'll post full instructions ( as they may be a bit long)

I am interested. Could you start a new thread for it rather than post here so that it is easy to find in the future. Thanks!

577661 2007-08-08 23:59:00 Spybot isnt an AV program, it may think it is, and may remove a few trojan entries.

But it isn't and will never be an AV program.

577662 2007-08-09 08:35:00 Up till now I thought NOD32 was excellent. I had it on trial and when that expired I was about to purchase it but then realised I had not tried out Kaspersky yet. I downloaded the trial and it found 2 nasties that NOD32 missed.
One was an Java exploit java.gimish.a and Trojan downloader WMA.wimad.d

Now having second thoughts on NOD32

no offence, but i am pretty sure that either you dind't have your NOD32 correctly configured or up to date, or that they aren't actually problems, but kaspersky is set to detect these behaviours.
I have never seen NOD32 miss something that another AV product has found.

Up to date and configured.

It surprised me also, the trojan downloader was actually a file downloaded as a WMA through limewire.
