That does not have a TV tuner or capture card in it for recording TV and the format support is pretty limited. Hard drive is not big enough either. 160GB is getting better.
In saying that I have had a play with one and it was very nice.

Elegato Eye TV would do it although the Apple TV is solely designed for streaming videos downloaded from iTunes (US) so that part of it is not yet suited to our market. The Elegato Eye TV works very well as a TV tuner on a Mac from what I understand.
There were some comments from Mac users regarding the 40GB HD being too small when it was first released so it is fortunate that Apple upgraded it. I guess you can also store additional footage on your PC or Mac HD if needed.

I got given a brochure from the openmedia.co.nz company at a Linux User Group meeting some time last year, and from memory they said their prices ranged from the $1K mark upwards depending upon what goodies you would like inside. It included full software support. No idea what their prices are like now.

578468 2007-08-09 21:23:00 Thanks Jen.
That is what I was looking for.
I realize I could build a media pc (windows or Linux), but wanted something that was a bit more professional looking.
Thanks again
