| 580731 | 2007-08-14 01:39:00 | Hi guys, I now have 1 GB RAM in my notebook using Vista. Hear that one should upgrade over that. I have 2 banks of 512 MB in use, so have the choice between chucking both out and install 2 GB (or even go to 2.5 GB), or save some money and leave a 512 MB in, adding in the other slot a 1 GB. What do you think? And the memory prices are quite different from provider to provider, is there such a quality difference? Thanks Johan |

| 580732 | 2007-08-14 01:48:00 | Depends on what your using the lappy for. 1gig should be enough to run Vista OK, but if you simply want to upgrade, probably taking one 512MB chip out and popping a 1gb chip in would sort you out, RAM is worth bugger all second hand unfourtunatley. Get a reasonable brand, apacer, kingston and a-data all make good cost effective notebook RAM. |

| 580735 | 2007-08-14 02:15:00 | Just make sure the RAM you buy is compatable with the Laptop. I have known some RAM not to work on Acers for example. Make sure you can exchange it if its not compatable. |

| 580737 | 2007-08-14 05:16:00 | A client of mine has a Acer laptop, he bought ram from DSE I think and it didn't work so make sure you get ram that works .. as someone mentioned above. If you can hold out on buying it you will find prices are going to drop big time (so a reliable source tells me). The more ram the better for Vista! I had 2G of ram on my laptop with Vista Ultimate, I reckon it should have had 4G for it to run smoothly. Vista sucks anyway :badpc: |
