580525 2007-08-13 13:55:00 Sounds like explorer.exe isn't running.

is explorer.exe running when you open the task manager?
if not you will need to start it and your problem will be solved.
If it is, end the process then restart it.

580526 2007-08-13 14:09:00 I have selected explorer.exe and starts it from task manager but it opens to malware website. malo (12639)
580527 2007-08-13 14:58:00 weird! never had that happen to me before!
What antivirus are you using?

Try starting in SafeMode and see if you icons etc load and if you get sent to the malware website.
Then do a full system scan for malware etc.
Download HijackThis and post the log in here and we can take things from there.

just out of interest, what is the website it takes you to?

580528 2007-08-13 16:43:00 I have selected explorer.exe and starts it from task manager but it opens to malware website.

are you SURE ?........explorer.exe is a SYSTEM process this is different to INTERNET EXPLORER.EXE......I cant imagine why explorer.exe would open ANY website ........anyway it surely soun'ds like you have an infection of some sort if you are getting a malwhere site........try starting in safe mode and see whether you get a desktop environment.....if so run a anti everything scan......and if you still get the blank desktop in safe mode use task manager to start your antispyware/antivirus scans.....

580529 2007-08-13 20:35:00 Seen that one before - Try this. RIGHT click on the desktop, go to "arrange Icons By" - Make sure "Show Desktop Icons " is ticked.

Then do a antivirus / spyware scan.

Could just be pulled down to the bottom of the screen.

Thats true, look down the very bottom of the screen,( assuming thats where the task bar normally is) if there is a very thin line right click it and select Properties, and untick Auto hide task bar if its selected. See if thats any use.

If that doesn't work then follow the advice by demonhunter and Drcspy so we can see whats on the PC - spyware etc. Bit hard fumbling around in the dark.( Hijack this)

Out of interest - do you have your normal desktop picture ?

The reason for that question is there is one particular infection that goes around and it changes the desktop, as well as hides all icons / taskbar etc.

580533 2007-08-13 23:26:00 Your taskbar and desktop icons disappeared?? you can control your computer ONLY with the taskmanager??

This may be the solution if it is the one causing the problem..

1) end following process: sysu.exe
2)delete following folder: C:\Programs\ddm

dynamic desktop media it's an adaware!! this might cause u all the problems!

Thats the easy part, now for gettin rid of it permanently (& >>safely<<),
i found a neat summary for that at one site...

1) Ctrl+alt+delete and identify sysu.exe in the processes list.
2) Close it, and go to C:\Program Files.
3) Locate the folder ddm and delete it.
4) Click on start > run and type in regedit.
5) Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE remove the folder ddm.
6) Click on start > run and type in msconfig.
7) Click on the right-most tab labeled startup.
8) Scroll down and locate an entry with no command line.
9) Uncheck the box and apply all changes.
10) Reset your computer, check the checkbox for a window that comes up
saying you changed startup settings.
