580458 2007-08-13 13:51:00 I take it you are referring to the colour quality once opened.
Has he got the default photoshop settings set to open a new picture in 8 bit RGB mode, not 32 bit?
This could be the case.
Personally have never experienced this before but when i saw RGB#8 on the opened image i just wondered if that my be the case.

580465 2007-08-15 03:53:00 You might find that you get your answer from the Adobe forums much faster than here. I have Photoshop CS3 but haven't used it enough and haven't yet encountered the problem your talking about. winmacguy (3367)
580466 2007-08-15 06:30:00 If it's opening them in 8bit RGB instead of 24bit RGB (which is 'normal') there is a problem.

Look at the opened image's properties (I think you can right click the image in P/shop) and it will tell you the details.

1st check what the saved image is that you are using, ie your original image might be 24bit, his 8bit.

If it is 8 bit you might have saved it as 8bit from a 24bit image without realising.

P/shop should open the image in the 'size' that it was saved in, so if the image is a 24bit one P/shop should open it as 24bit and not 8bit.

You can scale an image down from 24 to 8 bit, but if you scale an image up from 8 to 24bit it will still look crap... so there's not much to be gained from 'upscaling' his image.

If your image that you copied/sent him is 24bit, you could try importing it into P/shop instead of just opening the file straight from disc.

You could also try saving the original image as a straight BMP instead of jpeg, then try opening it on his comp.

Sorry, not much help- but maybe more than Winmac again :)
