580818 2007-08-14 08:51:00 Hi bud, any DDR400 (also called PC3200) RAM modules will do. I dont know how many slots your motherboard has, however removing the side/opening the top will show if you have any slots free to install more ram.

However, if you are very green with PC's, I am sure if you took the box to your local pc shop, they will check and sell you the appropriate dimms.

580819 2007-08-14 08:57:00 First you need to find out what type of RAM you have and make sure there are spare expansion slots on the Motherboard.

According to Acers Site they say -

Up to 2 GB of DDR400 memory, using two DIMMs.

Look on the case (if you don't know) and there may be a sticker that says something like 512 of DDR400 memory. As long as you know what type of Memory you have, and you have a spare slot then just about any DDR400 Memory will work OK in Acers. A-Data, Kingston,Corsair.

Just make sure what ever you get that if it doesn't work you can take it back to the shop and exchange it.

580820 2007-08-14 09:01:00 It doesnt say on the case but I know there is 512MB installed with 1 stick, so 1 slot free. Was thinking of buying 1GB stick to take it to 1.5GB.

Was offered a GB of RAM on trade me for $100:

"Brand New 1GB Ram DDR 400 184pin ( Boxed & Sealed )

$99 buy now
$8 P&P, + extra $6 if RD or Pick Up in Ellerslie

100% Compatibility
100% Tested
Maximize your system's performance

Works on Dell, HP, Compaq, NEC, Compatible PC etc."

so that should work? thanks

580822 2007-08-14 17:19:00 price new ram at your local pc shop where they'll install it for you.......thing is you see that some brands of ram dont 'play well' with other brands.......you may indeed spend that hundred buying that ram then find that it is'nt compatible with your current ram.......then you'll have to sell it.........more mucking around......if the local shop will sell you some for a reasonable price and install it also it'll potentially save you hassles...........when I install ram, and I work at peoples houses most often so I need to take what I need with me, I always take at least two different brands..... drcspy (146)
