| 582477 | 2007-08-18 17:53:00 | I have a 250gb external hard dive and the other and it fell off my desk and usb cord was pulled out. Now it makes a loud humming and beets/chirps ever 30 or so seconds and is not being recognized. Is there any way to fix this? My computer is running windows vista if that makes a differents to anything |

| 582482 | 2007-08-19 12:14:00 | You may, if you stop using it now, and take the drive straight to a data recovery specialist (look in the phone book), they may be able to recover your data, but it is seriously expensive to do this (up to thousands), otherwise it sounds like your drive is toast, sorry to say. :horrified | feersumendjinn (64) | ||

| 582486 | 2007-08-19 22:04:00 | My ext drive slid off my desk (unstable piles of paper and nice shiny case with no rubber feet - since remedied!) onto a carpeted floor while running. Much to my amazement it still worked!!! It is a Seagate, too. | linw (53) | ||
