| 582488 | 2007-08-18 09:39:00 | :confused: Have an AMD 2.4 (ECS M851 motherboard) with 128Mb AGP and 256 ram. Have put a Swann 4 port camera capture card in and the motherboard gives about 10 short beeps when the software loads. These are not at boot up, but when the Swann software is started. The feed from the camera shows but once the software settings or playback function is entered the picture freezes. Running XP Home with all updates. I know the PC specs are not right for the capture card so dont need to be told that. Have run these cards in lesser PCs both AMD and Intel. The PC was using a Pico 2000 capture card but even though this worked the software options was crap and not very user friendly so changing. Anyone now what the 10 approx beeps would mean? If bios beeps then I would say ram but have tested the memory with memtest with no errors. Next step is to replace ram but I cant find anything that relates to the beeps while in windows. |

As you say "The feed from the camera shows but once the software settings or playback function is entered the picture freezes." It would seem that at that point you run out of memory and whilst you may have enough virtual memory the swapping to disk may case a tipping point. Have you tried disabling unneeded programs in startup? Can you install more memory? |

| 582493 | 2007-08-20 21:26:00 | Some boards will do alternating high-low beeps when the CPU is too hot | Agent_24 (57) | ||
| 582494 | 2007-08-21 01:29:00 | Assuming you have a AMI bios 10 Short Beeps means the shutdown register for CMOS RAM failed. | Pancake (6359) | ||
