582622 2007-08-22 00:03:00 I must of had an obscure email address because I received no spam whatsoever :D trinsic (6945)
582623 2007-08-22 07:18:00 People are saying they have changed their pop3/smtp settings. Mine still works with the old settings. JaceKiwi (2561)
582624 2007-08-22 07:22:00 There is another problem with Xtra mail – the screen shrinks ands always needs expanding! JaceKiwi (2561)
582625 2007-08-22 07:25:00 I have now attended to several sheep here with Xtra email problems.
I can tell you that;

Some need no changes
Some needed the new server name
Some needed the the server name, SSL and new ports
Some needed only the server name and new ports

Great stuff isn't it.

And I say sheep because WHY the hell do these people stay with Xtra? It costs more, the helpdesk is useless, Telecom couldn't care less.

Its enough to make you scream. Especially in light of this whinge meeting thats being organised down here to hassle Telecom about the pathetic state of both broadband and cellphone coverage.

I'm sick of it. I told a couple of people today that there is nothing they can do because Telecom has no interest in doing anything when people like them continue to PAY them.
I told them that they should change to other companies.

This afternoon on National Radio some guy that does a regular computer flavoured spot admitted that he averages 1 ISP per year because they've all annoyed him sooner or later

582627 2007-08-22 07:43:00 Gosh you are having it hard down there. Do you ever regret leaving Auckland? Perhaps the lifestyle you have now mitigates the Telecom problem?

I do know that us moving from Auckland to Wanganui was good for us. Sure it is colder here, but......

Also we got to meet Metla, what more could one ask for????? PJ

No.

And while my broadband is not fast, I have broadband. This meeting is mainly for those a bit further out who get no broadband at all and no cellphone coverage at all. I don't own a cellphone so I couldn't care less.

But I have volunteered to help ****stir at the meeting - mainly as they want some bodies who can detect if/when Telecom starts to bull****.

Likewise husband as he installed this sort of old exchange hardware we have here.

And if I was still up north I'd still be irritated at the whingers there who persist in staying with unsatisfactory service companies. I see theres plenty on this forum.

582629 2007-08-22 09:36:00 Thanks for the info, all. Glad to know there is no one solution, Pctek:groan: I'm not an xtra customer, thank goodness, but I do support several people who are so I am trying to keep up with the play. So far I haven't been pestered by any of them. Guess I got lucky.

It is really strange how variable and patchy the problem has been, though. Why do some work fine as is but others don't? (Not expecting an answer to this!).

Cheers.
