582073 2007-08-18 06:53:00 When I first went to secondary school I used a fountain pen. I, and others, were not allowed to use a ball point pen. This as the teachers mentioned it may destroy my handwriting skills. In Primary school I learned to dip my pen into ink. This was not a quill pen.

I ask again.
What school?

Why do you want to know the school?

I wouldn't encourage anybody to reveal their identity online.
Particularly to somebody I don't know.
I'm not quite sure what your point is.

582075 2007-08-18 07:18:00 If that was the case I would be having a few words to the kid to explain how how to treat computers. iMacs don't fall over just because some kid happens to touch them or brush up against them. They also tilt to adjust to the user. They also weigh around 15-20Kgs judging by the weight of my iMac.

Heh, You know nothing about children. Were you never one yourself?

And even in the adult world accidents happen (hell, The shelf I put up collapsed the other day (I did happen to be leaning on it while hooking up speaker wire) dropping about 40KG of audio gear onto my PC, Crushing it to near death.

Damn glad it didn't have an LCD integrated into it.

I sure was, and as a child and young teen I was taught to have respect for other people's stuff and don't touch or break what you can't afford to replace.

Because young kids will know and understand this??? I think Metla is trying to say that kids cause accidents and maybe Macs aren't the sort of computers to take the punishment.

582078 2007-08-18 09:00:00 No matter, anything and everything that isn't related to the gloy of Macs goes right over his head.

That aside, I wouldn't consider any computer with the components integrated into the screen to be worth buying (or knocking from its perch), Not just Macs.

If kids are too buisy beating up the computers they are obviously not spending a whole lot of time learning.... Most reports that I have heard about Macs in education is that kids are having too much fun creating stuff to worry about destroying the hardware.:)

582081 2007-08-18 09:31:00 They love to pull the lenses out of tray loading iMacs (the old ones) by all accounts. Adults aren't much better, especially they way they treat laptops..

The iMac design is a heck of a lot tidier than a mini mac with cables everywhere. No worries getting at the hard drive either. The memory slots for adding new RAM are annoying though. I'd still like to see a cheaper version of the Mac Pro...

That would all depend on whether you think I missed Metla's attempt at a train wreck or not.;)
