| 582592 | 2007-08-19 20:34:00 | I created sub-email account but Outlook can only receive and cannot send. Tried to contact Xtra several times from last night untill now and I gave up. I've no patience to hang onto the phone for more than half an hour! Have a look in the other threads about Xtra that were created (no idea why we need three!), Someone's posted new e-mail settings that you can use :) |

But there is no problem with my existing account with the old settings, i.e. smtp.xtra.co.nz |

| 582595 | 2007-08-19 23:29:00 | Just to clarify: Is this Yahoo thing only if you are using webmail? If you have your email through an email program, the settings etc are as they used to be? Or you have to alter your settings (pop3, smtp) to the new ones regardless? |

Or you have to alter your settings (pop3, smtp) to the new ones regardless? There's the rub- they are making out in their e-mail that they have already 'upgraded you to pro something or other'. There is no mention that if you don't want Yahoo/or use webmail you can use your old Xtra settings... it's a done deal. In fact the whole damn thing is utterly confusing and the poor old customer has no idea what the hell is going on. I had to change my outgoing Xtra settings to make it work with T/bird and I'm not going near Yahoo. The turd at Telecom who thought this one up should be shot. |

| 582598 | 2007-08-20 01:36:00 | I don't want Yahoo..I don't want Bubble..just want my outlook email working properly. Is this so difficult. Tried changing the settings and it still doesn't work. Been on the damn phone for many many hours and still listening to the damn songs on xtra help desk again and again. Why can't they get it right. Some of us just want simple email program to work. We don't want any extra content so don't shaft it down our throat XTRA  | ephesus (2509) | ||

Or you have to alter your settings (pop3, smtp) to the new ones regardless? There seems to be a mixture here, Helen. Several people are reporting faults far worse than what I have, but these seem to be webmail only. In my case, having decided to ignore the Yahoo stuff - for the time being, amyway - reality isn't so bad. I have Outlook Express. It's working in both directions. The only change is that I have to click a Connect button which wasn't necessary before. So the pop3 stuff has no major changes in my Outlook Express - though Opera people seem to have problems. I'm still a bit mystified about why so many people are trying to use webmail - unless away from their comp - but confirm mine can't be accessed without registering for this Yahoo stuff. Which I won't... (I've sent links to our PF1 threads on this to XtraHelp - just to add to their load. In spite of Shortcircuit's estimate of 3, we actually have 5 going - 4 in PF1 & 1 in Chat) |

| 582600 | 2007-08-20 01:48:00 | My email is working as normal but if away from home I want to access webmail It seems as though the only thing to do is register with the bubble. Also when you go to sign up Yahoo insists on downloading and installing a small program on your comp.. WHY and WHAT for,, . | jayess (7122) | ||
| 582601 | 2007-08-20 01:51:00 | I am using smtpr & pop3r (xtra remote service). Could this be the reason? I have tried changing the settings back to smtp and pop3 and it still doesn't work. I am feeling out of the loop without my email for the last 3 days.:( | ephesus (2509) | ||
