Download CWS (www.softpedia.com) Run it, Then reboot and start PC in safe Mode - press F8 While booting, select "safe Mode" rerun Spybot. Download the trial verson of Nod32 (http://www.eset.com/) it works for 30 days, scan with that.Normal mode. Those items you mentioned are the nasties alright. You may want to run this also ComboFix (download.bleepingcomputer.com) Thats copied from another person that helps here Pancake. Once fully clean, reboot again, RERUN all scans, if now clean, go back and enable system restore. Most of those bugs are simply reactivating because restore is where they are hiding. Please let us know how you get on. |

| 581743 | 2007-08-17 22:39:00 | If you are referrring to system restore I mentioned - No you wont lose any data. What system restore does is takes a snapshot of the Reg/system, then if you have a problem like damaged reg you can "wind it back" to when it was going OK. But some viruses and spyware get into system restore and as soon as you remove them by running cleaners and reboot, the buggers return( from system Restore) and no matter what you do that keeps happening. It doesn't matter how far back you restore the bugs go for the ride. All it means is while system restore is turned off, you cant wind back the reg. By turning off system Restore you delete all restore points along with the bugs in restore. If you want to make a back up copy of the reg first (not a bad Idea) do this: Click start/run type in regedit press ENTER Click File / Export Save a copy of the Reg to the C: Drive. That makes a manual copy of the reg files just in case. Depending on the size of the reg it may take a few minutes. Then turn off restore. Once the PC is clean and you are sure of that, then turn restore back on for a fresh / clean start. |
