582685 2007-08-19 04:59:00 Xtra smtp servers is working fine for me (I just sent an e-mail & it went out fine) (Using Outlook Express)See above: "We are making a significant upgrade to email this weekend, and as a result webmail will be unavailable for up to 24 hours over the weekend. However you can still send and receive emails using email software like Outlook." johcar (6283)

I know that ;), I was replying to leonidas5 so he knows that it may be his end or it could be that Xtra smtp is more unreliable then normal.

Xtra's smtp server has stuffed up and caused them to loose a customer that I support because of it. He hasn't been able to send an email all day.

582688 2007-08-19 14:37:00 If you're having problems sending after you've logged into 'bubble' (&^%$ - even the name is awful) - then this will help:

New smtp server - it's now send.xtra.co.nz
If you have firewall issues getting mail out - you'll notice it's now setup SSL on port 465.
pop3 server still the same address - but also now SSL on port 995

BTW - I wasn't advised of this - I just spent about 40 minutes searching on their awful website until I found the servers. Nice of them to let us know - wasn't it :yuck:

582689 2007-08-19 20:31:00 Thanks Brooko, that did the trick.

*%$@ Xtra.

If I didn't have a business account/e-mail with them I'd be off too.

They could have just sent us an e-mail telling us the new settings- takes all of 5 seconds like they did with officemail. Morons

582690 2007-08-19 20:51:00 I am still having problem sending email from outlook. I have changed the setttings yesterday as advised by xtra tech and it hasn't worked. Anyone still having the problem. This is a bloody mess and its Monday..a working day. ephesus (2509)

I've no problem in sending out with my Outlook - no change to smtp settings, but have problem in sending with my newly created sub-account.

Why don't Xtra spend their time and money more wisely by improving Internet speed rather than all these 'bubble' rubbish?! They only create problems for end users.

582692 2007-08-20 05:39:00 Running OS X 10.4.10 and OS X Mail. Changed the smtp settings (send.xtra.co.nz port:465) but can't send through Xtra or to my own email services (previously opted out of Port 25 filtering). Gmail accepts messages sent from mail client through Xtra

Attempts to contact Xtra help desk very frustrating. Poor show Telecom.

582693 2007-08-20 07:50:00 Interesting so many having problems.

Mine finally cured by changing the port settings and going to ssl. An email from xtra says in part.......

In the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP):' field, enter '465'.
18. Tick the box underneath marked 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL)'.
19. In the 'Incoming mail (POP3):' field, enter '995'.
20. Tick the box underneath marked 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL)'.
Did this around 4.50pm and...........

All came right about 5pm tonight!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you all get a fix. Thanks to all for responses etc
