| 582173 | 2007-08-22 12:52:00 | Teaching a 10 year old to use a new system is probably much easier than getting an adult since adults tend to clam up more around new technology where as it is all new and exciting to a 10 year old. Lots of kids are kind of scared, freaked out or frustrated computer users. I don't find that Macs or Windows makes it any easier for these kids. Some bring anti-Mac baggage with them, this creates a barrier to their learning. Great attitude to have in life, eh. Rather than... cool, I wonder what this does? How can I get this to do what I want to do? We crawl back to the security of what we know and lash and say that the thing is stupid, because we don't understand it. |

Any anti-Mac feelings are fostered by and a direct response to gibberish and bullshirt put forward by Apple and their fan base. |

| 582175 | 2007-08-22 12:58:00 | And so what??? Apple always keep banging on about how their computers are just for "real cool people who are too cool for us PC users and can only do media work" Real work like creating spreadsheets and doing office work is beneath such god-almighty computers. Did you watch any of the videos? They were mostly mocking the Apple Ads and nicely mocking both sides of the Apple vs Mac argument. O, my God did you leave your sense of humour in the birth canal? Check the vids before you get critical, eh. |

Dunno, You would have more of an idea then I would  Where do they get it from?...parents? Parents who have had to deal with Mac-heads?...Lmao Anyhow, I would imagine that most people on this forum would consider Macs to be nifty computers with a price thats not warranted, Then they learned to hate when Winmacguy arrived. |

| 582178 | 2007-08-22 13:13:00 | I know they do Office, my problem is that Mac (and the ad's don't help) always makes it look like what we do on PC's is boring and not fun at all. We are so beneath you guys, aren't we??? How come Bill hasn't responded with his own Ads? I do agree though... the ads are more funny than truthful. The average punter doesn't know how much is inaccurate... fortunately for Bill, many have responded on his behalf... If you haven't watched the vids I posted before... please watch this one, just about wet myself laughing... and I use Macs. www.youtube.com |

Yeah I thinks parents would have a big part. However, they are using Windows at home... so some would just be thinking, O my God what is this? Apple does feel a need to overcompensate... maybe it is catchy? The whole argument can get a bit tedious when opinions lack substance. Cost is an argument point with substance. I'll certainly be curious to see if Apple can sustain a presence of the Ed market or if it just goes for the Flashy Harry market. |

| 582180 | 2007-08-22 13:35:00 | You could use Appleworks although it has just been discontinued in favour of iWork 08. You could just use a Windows PC with MYO, would seem to be the sensible option. |

I think the entire argument can be whittled down to "buy whatever suits", If people don't follow their own personal preference when it comes to a computer then they won't be happy with what they bought. Though I struggle to see how that warrants a devotion to Steve Jobs and a campaign of ignorant claims spammed all over the net. I'm putting my money on some Mac owners as being embarrassingly insecure or suffering from inferiority complexes, requiring them to claim that their choice of computer is the one true way and in some bizarre fashion makes them cool. In much the same way some poor fools would think designer labels and an Audi changes there status. Or maybe its just all gay:eek: Muhahahahahaha. |

I have asked my colleagues to take me aside all give me a good slapping... if I ever turn up to school in a black turtle neck sweater, blue faded jeans and running shoes. I use a MacBook Pro for work... I couldn't really care less that it is the pinnacle of the Apple laptop range. It is just a computer that enables me to get my job done. I just thank God that I don't have to put up with one of the black CrapBooks or hopeless G3 iBooks. So yeah, preference is King. Not that I have said anything to qualify that. |
