582133 2007-08-20 20:43:00 Does it come with a bundled iLife package?

iLife is elegant and all... but It wouldn't be the primary reason for choosing a Mac. as said above, there are plenty of free apps.

MS Movie Maker is fine as an entry level editor. Not flash Harry, but does the job.
Do you know if the new iMac is compatible with Hard drive video cameras?

582134 2007-08-20 21:07:00 What crap?

Surely we participate in the discussion because we enjoy it.

Otherwise we wouldn't:lol:

Why choose to be bothered about it?

Can you believe people who don't like a bloody good argument.

582135 2007-08-20 21:18:00 When I was at school we had slates and books.
And we learned.
Today all the kids learn is how to play with computers.
Each year the graduates get dumber and dumber.

Shop assistants can't even give change without a calculator. They can't talk to each other sending text messages.
They can't even walk to school. They must be driven.
And they can't even enjoy themselves at a party without being drunk.Or drugged.

It realy worries me.

582136 2007-08-20 22:44:00 FACT: Anyone can build a system with the same spec as a mac cheaper.
Its only when you start comparing them to other manufactors do that prices start looking good, yes you will pay a premium, but not much when compared to the DElls, HP's and so on.

Since I don't own either it is hard to tell.

582139 2007-08-21 02:46:00 No but there are plenty of free aps available that will do the similar things.

But they don't come bundled nor are they as easy to use nor work as smoothly as the iLife combo.

I just checked the MacWorld QT Demo and Steve mentions pulling movie footage directly off a hard drive so my guess would be that iMovie08 will import from a HDV Cam.

Schools still use books, paper, pencils, pens, crayons, scissors, glue, fabric and other non-digital materials. I'm guessing here, but the majority of schools probably still have one or two computers per classroom and possibly a computer lab. How students could possible spend all day playing on a computer on a 30/1 or 15/1 ratio defies my logic.

Computers don't make students any dumber than PowerPoint makes a presentation dumber. We make choices. Some kids are left alone to negotiate these choices without any guidence for parents or guardians.
School live and work with those consequences.

When did education stop being the role of the village and shift entirely to the teacher/school? When did parents lose any responsibility for their children's education?

That would be a bonus... kind of about time.
