2007-08-19 06:59:00 | Have you installed the driver for the usb adaptor on both the computers? And have you also set up a wireless access for the two computers to see and connect to?

2007-08-19 20:26:00 | Are all the PC's wireless, or just the old laptop? Does the router connect to a standalone modem, or is it the modem also (eg a DSL router)? I presume you've had at least 1 PC internet-connected before - what was the layout then? | MushHead (10626) | |
2007-08-20 00:35:00 | ok.. i have my phone cord hooked to the modem and then i plugged it into my router then to my computer and it says that there is no internet connection. i went through all the steps again and it still wont say its connected. i tryed this on both computers. i also have a wireless usb but that wont work if the router isnt working. | sweetbbyjen (12673) | |
2007-08-20 01:38:00 | According to this (www.usbman.com) Depending on what version of 95 is installed: Unless, its (4.00.950B) or 4.00.950C) it doesnt / wont support USB You'll have to get Windows 98, or 98 SE. Or higher. That'll be your main prob. Why it isnt working.

2007-08-20 04:00:00 | You could do worse than read and study this site www.crn.com Until you can ping the router from the computer you aren't going anywhere. Presumably the ethernet cables between the modem and router's switch and comp and router are functioning. You need to know the router's IP address (in the startup guide) and check that the computer is on the same subnet (above site shows how to use the ipconfig /all command). See if you can at least tell us what the two IP no.s (comp and router) are.

2007-08-20 14:16:00 | well im not even trying to hook up the laptop that is old.. im really more concerned with the 2 desktops. like i said i just tryed to hook the modem to the router and then to 1 computer and that wont work. does that mean something is wrong with my router? i mean it is brand new. both desktops have windows xp. i jus didnt understand why even hooked to 1 computer isnt working. says there is no connection. | sweetbbyjen (12673) | |

2007-08-20 21:19:00 | So what have you done up to now then? Connected it to the ethernet port obviously, installed whatever software is on that cd, and...? And what have you done on the other PC with the wireless adapter so far??
