| 583039 | 2007-08-20 05:42:00 | I have a Word document which has been compiled from various sources. The formatting had been removed and I am trying to reinsert the numbers and bullets. I experience the following problems: Word crashes frequently When I insert bullets they suddenly appear everywhere. When I block some text to make it bold, the whole document becomes bold. (Ctrl z fixes that.) Also How do I remove text boxes or tables around text? Any help much appreciated |

| 583040 | 2007-08-20 06:50:00 | Tried pasting it all in Notepad and then into word. Sometimes when I get stuff that has all sorts of formatting (highlight, bullets, numbering, different spacing etc), I just paste it to Notepad and let it just standardize it all and then into Word. | beeswax34 (63) | ||

With a table you can change the line colour to white and draw over the lines again with the table pencil (Tables and Borders Toolbar.) The table will still be there but you won't see it. Otherwise you will have to cut and paste everything out onto the page. With the bullets, you may need to backspace in front of the text/paragraph you want bulleted and then press enter so Word knows where the bullets should be. Apologies if I'm trying to teach you to suck eggs, but I don't know what you've already tried. | Rossini (12327) | ||

If you dont have the time... then continue to suffer. If you want detailed help then try the help topics on the above, they usually help. Copy the document and try... BTW there is no need to use notepad... try Paste Special > Unformatted text! And if you dont know where that is in word then your boss needs to spend some money on training you. Good luck. |

| 583043 | 2007-08-20 21:40:00 | Paste into a new document using zcc's method. It will not bring in boxes, bullets, mixed fonts or sizes etc. Also turn on "formatting marks". It shows you where every space and everywhere you have pressed the enter key. You can see where to remove unwanted spaces and unwanted new lines. |

| 583044 | 2007-08-21 01:34:00 | Thanks, I think I need to take zcc's advice. Pasting to Notepad just takes too long to get it all formatted again. But I would like to know if it is possible to remove tables and leave the text (as was possible in that great wordprocessing program Word Perfect). |
