584437 2007-08-25 04:23:00 I am pretty poor at valuing things, have a computer system that is second hand that I want to sell as I upgrade to an Apple Imac. I was wondering if people could be able to point at its market value.

AMD 2400 x2 64, MSI 7800GT 256, Audigy 2 ZS with drive bay, 1 Gig Ram, Foxconn motherboard, card reader, floppy drive, cd drive, DVD burner, 17inch LCD, flatbed scanner, HP ink printer that does photos, Speakers with sub, cordless keyboard and mouse, Windows XP Home. Just under two years old.

Any pointers would be great.

You buy it then.

I can't give a price as there is no brand given for most of the parts.
And no proper description, like what model motherboard. ANd there appears to be no hard drive either.

Even if none of that were the case I think your price is a bit high.

I tend to be generous when taking a quick look.

very valid points.....anyway to pay $1000 for a 2yr old pc .....well it'd have to be DAMN good cause that's now getting to be 'old' technology.......

584442 2007-08-25 21:11:00 Look at similar spec'd PC's on Trademe, in particular look at Expired listings and see what they have actually sold for rather than current listings and what people think they might get. That might give you a minimum price indication. Bantu (52)
584443 2007-08-25 22:02:00 Some people might consider that if an iMac is an upgrade, then your starting point is lower than Telecoms sense of ethics.
Other, "special" people might think that anything helping you to get an Apple is a pearl beyond price. Sell it to winmacguy for $5000 as an iMac starter kit.

Seriously, a 2 year old PC is not going to loosen any large wallets. You will need to give a more detailed description of the components to attract serious attention.

584444 2007-08-25 23:10:00 Thats not a bad pc!, drive bay with the audigy, card reader, dual core, scanner and HP printer.

How on earth do you consider an Apple iMac an upgrade?

584445 2007-09-09 07:14:00 Whoops a bit late into it for a quick reply - better late than never I guess.

To my mind I consider an IMac an upgrade in the sense that is represents a higher quality environment to work in. By this I mean and OS that is more stable and secure, an environment whereby your hardware investment is not outdated in one to two years because it won't run the lattest software. Business wise, one subscription gets you the full version of the OS, no spyware, constant snooping and verification.

I have become wary of the microsoft way, products rushed to the market, complancy born out of knowing people will put up with it because they have the lions share of the market.

Thats my rant and rave anyway, not intending to flame anyone for their perspective, just to elaborate to your statement questioning "upgrade"

That would have to be a MacPro, iMacs top out at a little over $3,600
