584296 2007-08-24 11:54:00 I am suspicious of someone logging into my PC at work. What ways are there to check this? Windows XP pro yorkshirekid (9033)
584297 2007-08-24 12:16:00 Do you have a password on your PC at work?

How are you suspicious of someone logging into your PC at work?? (It could be your IT staff?)

584298 2007-08-24 12:33:00 Yes, I have a password. Yes, it could be the staff but I want to know if it is. They say not. I just want to check on their honesty. yorkshirekid (9033)
584299 2007-08-24 12:36:00 What makes you think someone has logged into your account? Has any files been moved/out of place? qazwsxokmijn (102)
584300 2007-08-24 12:47:00 Questions - questions - no answers? Come on guys...............

Because it was turned on and I turned it off. And, 'cos it is running really slow now. It was fine previously.

Was it logged in at the time you found it on? If yes than check under whos name its logged in as. If it wasnt logged in than just have a look at the log on screen and see what was the last username that was used to log into the system.

584302 2007-08-24 13:14:00 Event Viewer? apsattv (7406)
584303 2007-08-24 13:31:00 Yeah, apsatty's got it. Have a look in your event viewer, which you;ll find under Control Panel/Administrative Tools. Check the System Log, that'll tell ya when any login attempt was made and which username was used.

Pretty boring reading otherwise.

584304 2007-08-24 19:24:00 Thanks - already tried that. I can't see any log that specifically shows a user log-in. Am I missing something? Try your own first to see if I'm wrong? yorkshirekid (9033)
584305 2007-08-24 19:42:00 Well unless you've got access like the IT staff if you have any.

I doubt you'll find out.

Altho it doesnt sound like any of the "functions" on these computers are limited / disabled.

Since you can get into Event Viewer.
