583726 2007-08-22 08:27:00 Just installed Flashget ver 1.9.0.1012 but it just won't work although it is set as my default download manager! How do I get it to be my download manager? Whenever I click a download link, Firefox's download manager takes control.

I'm running XP Pro.

583727 2007-08-22 08:36:00 It may depend on what the site is.

NOT all sites like download managers and will refuse to work with one.

Or when its installed.

583728 2007-08-22 08:40:00 you can try This (http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/) download manager, I find it works with most sites, and it does over ride Firefox, if you want to use Firefox to down load, simply click Cancel in the down load box then Firefox takes over wainuitech (129)
583729 2007-08-22 09:13:00 have you followed te instructions for seting it up with firefox ?

most netscape style browers need a special setup to work with download managers.

583730 2007-08-22 09:26:00 The special setup is the Flashgot extension update.mozilla.org PaulD (232)
583731 2007-08-22 09:30:00 Flashgot extension = excellent zqwerty (97)
583732 2007-08-22 10:39:00 Downloaded and installed Flashgot as suggested. Now when downloading, I have the option to use Flashgot and when I tick flashgot, Flashget opens and takes control.

Are Flashgot and Flashget the same?

583733 2007-08-22 11:01:00 flashgot is a elper program . it gets the info from firefox and passes it on the flashget .

583734 2007-08-22 21:35:00 Usually you have to right-click & copy the link for Flashget to be called or drag the link to the launchpad or whatever they call it.

If you're just left clicking on the link, then Firefox will use its download "manager".

583735 2007-08-22 21:45:00 Be aware that Flashget version 1.9.x has some suspicious behaviour such as connecting to various servers around the world. Older versions did not do this. See: www.softpedia.com for more info. somebody (208)
