| 583693 | 2007-08-22 05:40:00 | My business has a website hosted on iServes servers and I use Xtra as the ISP. Since the Xtra problems in the weekend, I have not been able to send emails using my domain name (eg. name@mydomain.co.nz) via xtras SMTP server. iServe don't have an SMTP server for sending out email, so I must use xtras SMTP server, but it doesn't work. I have phoned xtras helpdesk but they weren't able to get it working, and said I would need to contact iServe. Anyone know what I can do to get the outgoing mail to work? | robbyp (2751) | ||
| 583694 | 2007-08-22 05:52:00 | Mine just crapped out a half hour ago. I use an xtra dialup account supplied by work. Some time ago Xtra blocked port 25 so I was unable to send out email using my domain name servers (mail.domainname.co.nz) so had to use xtra smtp server instead. Now its no go. So, Am just about to cancel all the xtra dialup accounts supplied to those at work, Not interested in telling them all why they once again cant send emails. Xtra are fools. |

Are you using smtp.xtra.co.nz? I have the same setup as you e.g.: I have to send mail via Xtra smtp server for name@mydomain.co.nz but this is with web drive, & I have had no problems. When you try & send a e-mail what error message do you get? |

| 583696 | 2007-08-22 06:14:00 | Bloody Xtra! At work we use a domain name and can't send emails using their smtp server either, have switched over to smtp.officemail.xtra.co.nz and have entered the ssl connection number 465. As they say to do. Can send emails through the other comuters at work. Also we have had this problem for quite a while, a few months at least. have rung xtra helpdesk several times but have been on hold for over 30min each time and have never spoken to them. Couldn't hold any longer. I think telecoms service leave much to be desired. |

Click "Tools," and select "Accounts." 2. Click the "Mail" tab, and choose "Properties." 3. On the "Servers" tab, ensure that you have not checked "Log on Using Secure Password Authentication" in the Incoming Mail Server section or "My Server Requires Authentication" in the Outgoing Mail Server area. 4. Check that "POP3" is listed in the Incoming Mail Server field. 5. On the "Advanced" tab, ensure that you have not selected "This Server Requires a Secure Connection (SSL)" under the Incoming (POP3) or Outgoing (SMTP) Port settings. And then you should be able to send mail with no problems |

| 583702 | 2007-08-22 13:30:00 | I had similar problems when the bubble burst... my domain is not with Xtrahoo but I was using SMTP.Xtra etc for my business mail. When the bubble went up Outlook (pop and smtp) and SMTP stopped. Like many I searched and got the new settings for 995, 465 and SSL etc) Outlook worked fine. My mail server didn't. Debug showed SMTP losing connection. After 15 decades on hold no-one could work out why. Mail server people spent hours testing Xtrahoo's smtp server but only found minor Verisign SSL certification problem. Eventually we resorted to sending out using MX records via DNS. It works. We still think they have a problem with their SSL implementation... N |
