585326 2007-08-27 23:53:00 These are the two small computer screens by the clock that should flash and flicker away to indicate online activity.

Well on this Vista laptop, they don't. Lappie Acer Aspire 5104 64X2,AMD Turion Mobile tech, TL-57, 1.8 Ghz, 2x512 cashe. 1 gig DDR2. 120 gig HDD.

If I right click on the online indicator, the third item in the list is "Turn on or off " activity animation. Well turning it on or off makes no difference and I do miss being able to see that something is happening. Especially on this three week old lappie which is the slowest laptop or desktop I have every had the misfortune to use (But thats another story)

Does anyone know if these online indicators are actually supposed to work in Vista? Oh yeah its Home Premium.

585327 2007-08-28 00:16:00 Yeah it definitely should be flashing, I just checked and I have Home Premium as well. Maybe you can get the Bandwidth meter from my signature for the time being which also flashes:) and can also tell you the upload/download speeds just as a temporary fix. beeswax34 (63)
585328 2007-08-28 06:24:00 Hi, Thanks mate. Got it and it works fine. Now to return the lappie to Tricky Dicky for repair, (and while I am at it - why is it so bloody slow ), (I know it's not the top of the range,. or anyway near it), but in my mostly inexperienced feeeling's, something might be amiss.

Anyway thanks.

585329 2007-08-28 07:04:00 Well if it is slow, get CCleaner and BOCleaner and give your computer a good scan and hopefully you'll notice a difference and maybe get Firefox if you're not using it already:thumbs: beeswax34 (63)

1Gb is a little on the small side for Vista, performance is much better with 2Gb
