585116 2007-08-27 12:27:00 I'm using partition magic 8 to make a new partition on one of my secondary drives, like this.

C: 80gb (Primary)
E: 15gb
F: 3gb

to

C: 80gb (primary)
E: 7gb
E: 8gb (Ubuntu 7.04)
F: 3gb

However after queing the partitions in PM8 and clicking the go button I get the message "No partition is set as active, do you want to continue?"

I went to set C: as active only to find that the option was greyed out. So I went into the computer management window and found that C: was already set as "system" which I understand to be the primary OS's location (Windows XP).

Do I have to set the 7gb partition of E: as active before partitioning it, or can I just not worry about that active partition message seeing as I already have C: set as system?

585117 2007-08-27 16:12:00 right clik on c drive listing and goto properties (within PM) it should tell you if it's set to active.......also I find that queing too many changes can end up with problem sometimes.......dont do too many at once.......and no you dont want to set any other partition as active really because then it wont boot to anything else until you have installed your o/s....... drcspy (146)
585118 2007-08-28 00:57:00 Thats the thing, it's PM telling me that I don't have any partitions set as active, and PM wont let me set C: as active. However the C: drive is set as "system" in the windows XP computer management feature.

PM will let me set any partition other than C: as active.

By qued operations I ment I had told it to partition E: into a 7gb and 8gb partition, and it had qued 3 operations, resize E:, create H:, and something else.

585119 2007-08-28 10:36:00 I ignored the error and it's working fine. Faded_Mantis (79)
