584911 2007-08-26 23:16:00 I have just recent bought 2 x 1GB A-Data DDR2-800 ram (el-cheapo).
Each one runs fine when inserted singularly, but together whether running as single or dual channel memory cause my comp to become unstable.
If it makes it past post (often freezes) its not long till it randomly crashes with no warning. I have memory tested both as singles they pass fine, together
the 3 times I have made it that far, comp has become frozen at about the 5% mark.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

584912 2007-08-26 23:23:00 Check for memory compatiblity on the motherboard web-site. 2nd choice would be to look for an updated BIOS version to flash the BIOS when only 1 stick in the system. SolMiester (139)
584913 2007-08-27 00:19:00 On that board its 4 ram Slots two yellow, two red .

Make sure the ram chips are in the yellow slots . - Not yellow and red . I've built PC's with the same board / ram combo and it worked fine in that configeration . Possible fault in the board . Or can you access other Memory to try that .

584914 2007-08-27 01:44:00 If its like my 2 1/2 year old Gigabyte, there is a setting in ther Bios called Dual

try setting that. I had the same problem with 2 x 512meg Ram sticks

584915 2007-08-27 03:31:00 Thanks guys but it seems like the problem is a faulty ram stick after all,
through trial and error and running the memory test extensively, it seems that one fails on occasion......I'll ditch both and get some better ram

584916 2007-08-27 04:53:00 if you use memtest make sure you use the extended tests. Faulty RAM will often pass the "normal" 6 tests but fail on the extended ones. There is a message on screen that says something like "press T for extended test".

I have had this exact problem before. If the RAM is a recent purchase it should be under warranty - get it replaced.
