| 584836 | 2007-08-26 08:58:00 | Hi, So I set about reinstalling my girlfriend's laptop with her NEC restore CD. We had backed up our files but then, just after I had pressed "OK" to reformat, I realised I hadn't backed up 2 months of website programming and in my terror, I pushed the off button. I pushed the on button again and the CD loads but can't seem to work because presumably the C: wasn't formatted completely. I've downloaded (on my flatmate's computer) "www.ultimatebootcd.com which I am about to burn onto CD. Is there a tool on there that can wipe the C: so that I can run the NEC restore CD? |

| 584838 | 2007-08-26 09:04:00 | It boots the CD and then the CD can't do the restore. It prompts for Abort, Retry or Fail. | music_man (5482) | ||

But if you use them the drive will have all its data wiped. If you want to try to recover the data forgotten UBC I think also has recovery software. |

Is there a tool on there that can wipe the C: so that I can run the NEC restore CD? Do you want to continue the reinstall or save the files? Best make that clear before some answer nukes your chances. |

| 584843 | 2007-08-26 09:20:00 | So if you format the hdd if the cd doesnt work, how exactly are you going to restore whatever? Are you sure that error that came up when you put the cd in, only came up because the hdd isnt formatted? |

| 584844 | 2007-08-26 09:23:00 | Er... I haven't fully formatted the Hard Drive, that's the problem. It is a Restore CD, that wipes everything and installs the computer back to the factory default. It can't do the restore, because I stopped it during its formatting (I think). |

| 584845 | 2007-08-26 09:30:00 | Yer I know it isnt formatted, but then if the cd is MEANT to format it, and restore it, its not doing a good job of it is it. Coz it doesnt work. |
