584471 2007-08-25 06:37:00 Noticed today that the net is going miles faster here.

www.speedtest.net

My Belkin router shows the data rate at 5152, it used to be only approx 2500. I live in Chch and am 2km's from the Papanui exchange. Download speeds are circa 600kb/s.

Thanks Telecom!

My router shows 7424 as the download rate :p And I get pretty close to that in download speed tests :p
And we don't have ADSL2+ and I live in a rural area 10 minutes from Whangarei :p

584475 2007-08-25 08:33:00 Is ADSL2+ enabled yet though?

I am aware that the exchange got upgraded to the new ADSL2+ capable equipment on Thursday, but would you be able to verify that is connecting at ADSL2+ as opposed to ADSL1. Should be shown under Modulation in your modem config.

Telecom usually perform the upgrade to ADSL2+ in two steps
1) Upgrade to new equipment
2) Enable ADSL2+ on equipment

thanks

If your line rate is 5152kb/s, you should have been able to get a lot faster than 600kb/s on your speedtest even with ADSL1 - but I bet you're happy now.!

My router is ADSL2+ compatible.

There is another issue in the suburbs around here which is the cabling which is ancient and has been causing problems because of age. Telecom are supposed to replace it all sometime with the latest fibre optic stuff. This probably isn't helping the ADSL speed either, they had a big outage a couple of weeks ago.

584479 2007-08-25 22:12:00 I would say you haven't been upgraded yet to ADSL2+.
Maybe they have done some rearranging at the exchange.
How far away are you from the exchange.

2km's as the crow flies .

I had a good look inside my router settings (a ADSL2+ Belkin) and there is no mention anywhere of the modulation settings .

The fastest it's ever gone b4 on average is 2600
