586468 2007-08-30 23:11:00 the first annoying thing is the music library display on the music player (both windows media player and winamp) .

what happen is my friend came along with all his music on his dvd and i copy and past them all into "my music" folder (i know that is illegal so please dnt throw bricks at me :) ) . half of the songs on that dvd i already have and the other half on it i dont . during the copying process windows asked me " there are files with the same name, would i like to copy and replace them?" or something like that, i clicked yes . when it is finished i updated the music players' library .

what happened shocked me: more than half of the songs appear twice! for example, if the first song in a album is number 1 and the second song is number 2 and so on, a album in the library will look something like this " 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7 . . . . . " so when ever i play that album the same song play twice in a roll!:mad: what happened? how can i fix it?


the second annoying thing is my horrible experience with " the transformers game" .

my laptop's configuration is way above(at least i think so :) ) the minimum requirement of the game and yet the game just doesn't run on my laptop . during the installation process (which took a surprisingly long time of about 40 minutes!) it asked me if i want to install DirectX 9 . 0c, and said if i don't do that the game will not run properly so i let it installed .

when it was all finished i went in to the game, and everything is in real slow motion just like the scenes in the matrix, except it is so slow that what should be streaming smooth graphic almost become still pictures!!!! it took me more than 5 mins to just get out of the game because the graphic is sooooo slow!! :badpc:

what happen? is it because of the DirectX 9 . 0c? or is it because im using windows vista? my laptop runs "Need for speed carbon" very smoothly and i believe that it will run the transformers . are there any way to fix this as well?

and by the way i uninstalled the game right after that and went in to the "need for speed" game and the graphic started lacking hard out, i have to use system restore to fix it .

On XP, I know this can be checked by Start > Run > dxdiag.

Out of interest, how did you get hold of the game Transformers? :p :p :badpc:

586470 2007-08-30 23:32:00 This happens in WMP sometimes . . . just right click one of the dups . . one at a time and check the properties and see if they both are pointing to the same file .

You can then right click again and delete from the list, but not from the computer . If you take the only copy out of the harddrive, then you lose the whole thing . . but WMP will allow you to remove the listing of the dup .

If you actually have two copies of the same song, then just choose the one with the highest bit quality .

Easy!

But again . . . . . maybe Vista has done something to the file letting you fool yourself into feeling secure about what you did . . . . . and is right now reporting you to the MPAA or the RIAA and you should expect the knee breakers at your door at any time .

But be sure that the file you are deleting has another copy and your not simply deleting the song file itself in which case you'll have no songs left.

Be careful doing that . . one or the other might be a pointer to- and the other be the actual music file . . .

I know . . I've made that mistake a time or two in the past and had to reload (rip) the music all over again . That's why I suggest that you check the properties or open the containing folder first to make sure of what you are doing .

WMP can do some pretty dumb things sometimes . . like right now the biggest hangup I have is that I get my library listed twice in the left column until I click over to "Now Playing" and toggle back to Library .

Just a bother . . not a real problem though . :stare:

This showed up early on . . actually after I got about 6,000 MP3s into the library . . so I don't know what really triggered that small glitch . It might be overloaded .

I don't really know actually, i have never manually installed any since i put vista on my laptop . .

586475 2007-08-31 06:56:00 thanks for the help, i looked and find out that actually none of the song files in the folder have any copy, that means that if it's there, it will be the only one copy.....
now i have to go through the painful process of deleting the library manually...:(
