586224 2007-08-30 07:56:00 For Windows XP Home Edition can anybody recommend a good Registry Cleaner.
Preferably free or not too costly and reasonably simple to use. Thanks for any suggestions.

I don't think the question was, do i need one.
As for not needing them that is only partially correct.
You don't HAVE to use them. but if you want to keep your pc running smoothly and quickly, it pays to clean out those old redundant entries.

586229 2007-08-30 10:22:00 No, I disagree. Use a tool that properly monitors programs being installed and the crap won't get left in the registry when you uninstall the software.

The biggest cause of a lot of PC problems are people using so called "registry cleaners"

586231 2007-08-30 10:33:00 I kind of agree with apsattv, things like that should be left up to a tech.
Most problems are caused by the user trying to improve their system some how.

I wish windows users would click cancel, no or the big red X more often.

On the other hand ccleaner is a fairly user friendly program, could be used by a novice once in a while.

586232 2007-08-30 10:54:00 Anybody can use ccleaner, you just leave it in the default settings, right click your recycle bin and "run ccleaner", you can also "open ccleaner" from here and run the cleaner or the reg cleaner with default settings, no problems. zqwerty (97)
