586058 2007-08-29 20:34:00 Using windows XP I have suffered a computer crash with a loss of some data including my free version of AVG. After installing a new hard drive and windows software I downloaded another copy of AVG free and connected to upgrade the latest virus data. All seemed to go ok except the little icon is still grayed out whereas before after an upgrade it changed to its normal colour.
I went back into AVG and clicked the upgrade button and up came the panel saying it was all up to date. Next morning I went to do an upgrade as i usually used to do and it told me everything was up to date but the little icon is still grayed out. Question: Am I really up to date or is my computer telling lies. I have not installed any other firewall except the one in windows.
Any ideas please ?

586059 2007-08-29 20:47:00 According to the forum (forum.grisoft.cz)

If the computer's date and time are wrong the icon will stay gray as well.

Make SURE the time zone / time / date are correct.

586063 2007-08-30 01:59:00 Well Well!!! I installed Comodo Firewall. Turned off Windows firewall. Restarted computer and lo and behold my little AVG icon smiled sweetly at me in full colour. Downloaded latest updates and did a full scan and alls well.
As usual very grateful for help I get on this forum. Cheers all.

You'll have to either pay for it. Or uninstall it and its folders and its registry entries.

And hopefully, when u reinstall it, it'll work.
