585917 2007-08-29 08:45:00 Vista has more bugs than my compost bin. Here's three of them:-
1. Magnifier won't disappear. No matter what I do, this blasted Windows
Magnifier won't disappear. I tried it out once, and now I'm stuck with it
even though I think it's pretty useless (only on my desktop - no one else's)
2. Every time I go to a web page, I get an error message which says
"windows cannot find such and such a URL - make sure you've spelled it
correctly". However the web page loads up normally, so I have to keep
deleting these stupid messages.
3. Mouse refuses to respond on first click. You have to click it two or
three times before Vista wakes up! Most annoying.

Any ideas?
Cheers

585918 2007-08-29 10:29:00 Maybe you could give us the specs of your computer??? beeswax34 (63)
585919 2007-08-29 11:15:00 Here's google's ans to no. 1.
go here:
start>control panel>ease of access>optimize visual display
scroll down and uncheck "turn on magnifier"
click on "save" button.

And, no. it isn't a bug.

No. 2. What browser? Dial or Broadband? Has it always done this? etc.

No. 3. Again more info. What do you mean by Vista wakes up? Do you mean the mouse is OK for starting progs etc but tardy at bringing Vista out of sleep/standby mode? Have you modified the mouse settings?

You have to do your bit as we can't read minds.

585920 2007-08-29 13:02:00 A lot of people complain about their computer not responding well or at all after waking up from sleep/hibernation (Vista) but I've not had such a problem ever and I only have 1GB of memory. beeswax34 (63)
585921 2007-08-30 02:53:00 My problem is I can't keep mine in sleep mode! I have to allow wake-on-LAN so my PVR can wake it up and soon after it goes into sleep mode the browse master election process takes place and wakes the damn thing up . It also won't go into sleep mode using the power settings . But even if it did, the browse master service would cycle it up again! I have to force it into sleep mode with the keyboard sleep button .

Certainly the sleep mode is a pwr saver but I can't get it to do what I want so far .

Sorry, I seem to have hijacked this thread:blush:

585922 2007-08-30 19:39:00 I don't think it's the computer but anyway it's one I built myself. Has a graphics integrated Asus motherboard (M2A-VM HDMI); 2Gb Ram; 320Gb SATA HD; OS is Windows Vista Home Premium. The Mouse and keyboard are a Microsoft Wireless set. I did wonder if the mouse delay is something to do with the wireless set up. Incidentally this is not a delay in waking up. It is an ever present delay on any click. Often a click is ignored by the machine, and you have to click it twice or three times. However, it is random and will often respond instantly. Worm (12750)
585923 2007-08-30 19:41:00 Yes - tried this, but it's not that simple. If you disable it, it simply refuses to go away. I think I'll go into the registry and try to disable it from there. Worm (12750)

To Linw - see computer specs above . I am on high speed Telstra broadband . The browser I am referring to is MS Internet Explorer, although I also often use Mozilla Firefox .

585926 2007-08-30 21:30:00 Worm, yes, the mouse delay is a wireless issue, several models of keyboard mouse have this issue, the 1st click is to wake the mouse from sleep! SolMiester (139)
