i just put my old LAN card in (baystack21) thinking this might be helpfull but cant find the drivers for it anywhere

The local area Connection network cable says it is unplugged, yet in device manager it says this device is working properly..

These mean 2 different things. The cable unplugged means its not configured between XP and Vista. The drivers for the onboard LAN are installed.

If u dont have an ethernet hub, u need a crossover cable.

You may need this (www.microsoft.com) for XP as well.

586459 2007-08-30 22:25:00 You can get 802.11 wireless PCI cards or USB adaptors for your XP PC should you decide to go Ad Hoc (wireless equivalent of crossover)

Cheers :)
