It has Windows XP.

586411 2007-08-30 09:42:00 $450. Assuming it is all legal XP including disc and original product key. qazwsxokmijn (102)
586412 2007-08-30 09:49:00 I would be more inclined to lean more $550.
Recently sold a pc with much lower specs than that on trademe for $390.

Shipping may be an issue, since you have a 19" crt and desk. but if you are only selling to someone reasonably local, should be fine :)

586413 2007-08-30 09:50:00 $450? From my pathetic, limited knowledge, he could easily get more for all that (tho maybe sell desk seperate) in the buy sell / trademe.

But then again, I don't go buying and selling all the time :P

586414 2007-08-30 10:05:00 I'm cheap. I personally would only go for $450. Most people however may pay up to $600. qazwsxokmijn (102)
586415 2007-08-30 10:18:00 Perhaps a $450 start and reserve and feature combo? Try to get people bidding?

I usually look for what similar items are selling for (by using expired listings - only look at ones that sold though) and put my prices on the lowish end of that spectrum. I need fast sales though, so you may wish to go for the higher end of past sales.

Only use ones which sold in the last month as reference - any longer than that and it will be worth less.

586416 2007-08-30 11:30:00 You could even add a high(ish) buy now price and let people know that there is free shipping with buy now price.
You would naturally have to do the math to see if this would make/break you, but that is what i usually do with larger items.

586417 2007-08-30 11:44:00 19inch CRT? $20 at my local Cash Converters. 1GB of RAM is $50 or $60 at most. beeswax34 (63)

Selling off older computer components (with possible exception to monitors) seperatly never seem to yield as much $$$ as selling them as a complete system.
In my small experience anyway.

You're right there. Parts go for next to nothing these days. One could make a profit buying used parts and making PCs even, but it's not even nearly worth the time involved.

$1 reserve is a safe way to do it if you can make a good auction. You will get around 80% (at least) of the maximum amount you could get by setting a perfect asking price, but there is always the chance of getting more than it's worth due to a bidding war, although that's not very common these days in the computer section.
