587012 2007-09-02 00:26:00 Have just reinstalled Windows 98SE on an older machine. Windows Updates now shows no recommended updates. (I know they ceased updating it last year but want the updates to that point).

Rather than pick the updates I need one at a time out of their 60 files - is there anywhere that they can be downloaded in bulk?

587013 2007-09-02 00:44:00 There's an Unofficial Service Pack here (www.softpedia.com)

Use at your own risk.

Looks like some had probs with it, but it worked on others.

587015 2007-09-02 02:01:00 None of the updates are really neccessary. I have run a virgin installation for many years with no problems. Only update was to IE6. That comment will bring the normal tirade of scorn & to use firefox or xxx etc. Peter H (220)
587016 2007-09-02 02:03:00 Have downloaded and installed it and now Windows Updates works. There are a few extra updates on it.

Many thanks, it seems to have solved my problem.

587017 2007-09-02 07:03:00 Its been a while since I last reformatted anything - and this time anything that could go wrong did! From updates to the network card... I've given up on a fix for the old monitor. Windows smugly told me that its default drivers were best - no matter what I tried.

The link provided the updates for Windows - and was much faster than the old days of downloading them piecemeal. Once that was done the update site worked to upgrade IE 5 to 6 - with all patches.

Many thanks for the help - it is now working well.
