| 586984 | 2007-09-01 23:42:00 | I have tried to install 4 new Office 2003 patches and on reboot each failed install comes up with these messages.(Below) I have tried msconfig ,shutting down services etc, after I found instructions on "Error 1402.Setup cannot open the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" on MS site , but that doesn't work. Have had a hunt on google but nothing specific grabs me.Looks like others have similar problems but no solutions posted. So much for patches, wish I hadn't bothered.Have manually downed them and let the auto update run, same thing happens. Now every time I boot up these things try and fail to install. Any way of getting them to stop/get rid of them? "Error 1402.Setup cannot open the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.mdb\Acess.App lication.11\ShellNew. Verify that you have sufficient permissions to access the registry or contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) for assistance.etc" And the latest "Error 1402.Setup cannot open the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\odccube.1\HTML Handler\Icon.Verify that you have sufficient permissions to access the registry or contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) for assistance.etc" |

| 586989 | 2007-09-04 19:33:00 | Thanks for that last link Speedy, hadn't found that one. Slowly working through the instructions re registry permissions, busy elsewhere! At least they've stopped trying to install on bootup. The only one I can't find is the registry key UNKNOWN/......! The only problem now is I've allowed the latest updater from MS and it keeps coming up with all the Office patches as well.I'll manually down them and install if I can fix this problem. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks again. |
