586776 2007-09-01 05:34:00 I'd go for Corsair also. wainuitech (129)
586777 2007-09-01 09:31:00 Corsair or Kingston are my picks. beeswax34 (63)
586778 2007-09-01 19:43:00 You are getting an inferior cpu, so why worry about what ram you get.

"No Name" will go nicely with the rest of your stuff.

Oh and BTW Jack, he is wanting to know what is reliable RAM, I don't see where he says it needs to be HP RAM

Anyway, I recommend Kingston.

Perhaps "inferior" was not the right word. It may be OK in it's price range, but it is certainly is not a top performer.
And as mid range it does not require top range memory. Any cheapish ram will do.

586781 2007-09-01 23:51:00 I don't see anywhere a question regarding CPU's, it never hurts to have quality RAM in any system and both Corsair & Kingston have quite reasonably priced RAM as well as the high performance expensive stuff.

A 6000+ is only a little slower overall than a core 2 duo 6750 and you wouldn't recommend "no name" RAM for one of those surely ?

Just out is the 6400+, which is probably the last gasp from the X2 architecture. Personally I'm waiting to see what happens with the next round of CPUs from AMD & Intel before I consider upgrading.

586782 2007-09-02 00:49:00 Generic A-data DDR800 will be fine, Corsair and Kingston are a waste of time in that PC. I've even had some good overclocking results with the A-data hitting DDR1000 on loosened timings. Pete O'Neil (6584)

It might not require top range, nobody ever said it did, the question (as I believe) is the poster wants decent quality RAM... less chance for it to fail... I buy decent quality regardless of what its application is

And that is my point.
