| 586742 | 2007-09-01 01:47:00 | hi all,i wonder if the members of pf1 who now have changed from single to dual core cpus.would mind telling of there proformance benifits. was it wow this is amaizing ,ect im waiting for the amd phenom release around xmas as i support under dogs.. cheers. ps i know phenom is quad core..but just to get a idea as duel is probly been tested the most.. | ferrite (4221) | ||

Sure there are some programs that do't use the 2nd core, but overall its a lot better than my previous system. I went from a pentium 4 2.8E to an AMD X2 4200+ and was worried about the drop in clock speed ( 2.8 -> 2.2 ) but everything runs sweet as, multitasking is much better and video encoding to xViD is nearly twice as fast! The only game so far that maxes out my CPU is titan quest, which only very occasionally has a slight slowdown. There have been some issues with dual core, but they are mostly sorted now. I wonder about adopting quad core too early in case of problems. |
