586700 2007-09-01 01:32:00 :help: I've had some problems firing up my pc since a recent power cut. I'm nervous about turning it off in case I can't get it going again. I do have a boot cd on hand should the need arise. This morning I gave it a re-start and the following message was on display....

ERROR COMPAQ CONNECTIONS IS UNABLE TO ACCESS ITS DATA DIRECTORY. IT IS EITHER INVALID OR UNREACHABLE, OR THERE IS ANOTHER PROGRAM ACCESSING IT.

I thought perhaps this was a backweb issue, but I've searched the Start up tab and can't see anything relating to backweb there.

Not sure if the above is related to my pc not wanting to start up at all on occasions. Any suggestions at to how I diagnose these problem(s) would be most appreciated.

586701 2007-09-01 05:42:00 If you have power problems you may have a damaged internal power supply, which may be corrupting data on the drive.

When the PC doesn't start some times, is it completely dead, or do the fans start and nothing else. ?

Have a look at This (forum.worldstart.com) forum, some one else had a similar problem and a suggested answer. May be of some help.:help:
