im about to buy a new desktop pc and of course it will come with vista (premium) but it comes with a 60 day trial of MS works.....i dont really want to stump up even more money at the end of the 60 days and would like to do what i did to my XP laptop a few months ago when i had the same problem.....i have a genuine copy of Works.....2000 i think.......i just deleted the locked software and installed the older but perfectly usable version i had.....my question is will i be able to do that on a vista powered machine?......is XP software compatable with Vista?

thanks in advance for any help given

586643 2007-08-31 21:32:00 Welcome to PressF1 beowulf - Thats a bit of an open question, which I'm sure will get some interesting answers .

BUT MS WORKS 2000 does work on Vista - I have it installed on one of my workshop PC's with no problems . I have read though that earlier on some people did have problems . - Don't know why .

Not all older MS software will work with Vista, it depends on what you are wanting .
Some times it's suck it and see, normally it will pop up with a message saying not compatable if it wont work .

Just make a restore point before installing if unsure, or seach google for others using the software you want - or ask here:thumbs:

Legally you are only meant to have one copy of the software installed on one machine according to the licence agreement that you agree to - I'd suggest you uninstall it from the XP if you want it on Vista .
