| 586565 | 2007-08-31 05:23:00 | Hi I've been having problems with my DVD drive for a few months now (it used to work fine), and finally got around to trying to fix it. When I try to play DVDs or copy files off DVDs, the CPU usage shoots up to 100% and playback (video and sound) becomes choppy. DVDs seem to write fine, but copying off them seems slower than it should be. I can't think of any software changes which could have done this, and I have made no hardware changes for quite a while. I saw in other posts that the transfer mode should be on DMA. Mine was on "PIO Only", so I put it on "DMA if available" but it still says the current transfer mode is PIO after restarting. I also have a CD drive on the same IDE cable and it seemingly works on DMA. Thanks for the help! |
